New ReviewerOn September 11, 2013, I made a purchase at my local Marshalls store (3405 Erie Blvd, East Syracuse, NY 13214). The cashier told me that the total cost of the items I bought was $201.70. I asked if she was sure about that amount because I had also calculated the cost. She confirmed that she was sure but upon receiving my sale receipt, I noticed that she had mistakenly added a $39.99 charge to the total cost. I pointed this to her and she proceeded to "void" the transaction and "ring-me-up" all over again.
She did not give me a "void" receipt, and when I asked her for some documentation, she gave me the old receipt with the word "VOID" scribbled across it. I decided to hold-on to the two receipts pending the reimbursement of the "voided" transaction.
Today (September 16,2013), I checked my bank account balance and realized that the "voided" transaction had not been credited to my account. I called my local Marshalls store to complain and was given a "run-around" before being told that the transaction was never voided and I would have to come into the store with my receipts to rectify the problem! Not once was there any mention of a compensation for my trouble for this serious mistake! If I had not checked my bank account balance thoroughly, I would have been in a $200 deficit without even knowing!!! (I am a student so $200 is a big deal to me)... As a student who lives on a budget, my finances/account balance cannot afford to fall short by $200!!!
The representatives I spoke to did not sound like they understood the gravity of this oversight! I was told to come back to the store (at my INconvenience) (NOTE: I am a student, I live on campus, I don't have a car, and had to find a ride to Marshalls in the first place). I requested for the manager but she was unavailable so I had to call again and explain the situation to her. After providing the necessary information needed for my reimbursement I requested to be compensated for my time, the trouble I went through, and the oversight of the Marshalls cashier who wrongly charged my account. To my surprise, I was told that nothing could be done to compensate me as a customer.
Just because Marshalls markets to a "fashionista on a budget" does not mean that the store should ignore proper customer service ettiquette! When a customer is wronged, he or she should be compensated!!! That is how a business establishment shows that it cares about its patrons!!!
Monetary Loss: $200.

Very poor costumer services in Port Chester-NY, I had the worst experience ever the other day when I had to return a defective merchandise. My wife misplaced her receipt, we brought the merchandise back with the store price label, but they refused exchange or give or money back.
I will never come back to this store again. Manager and supervisor need a major training, rude and helpless.
Same happened to me . They gave me no receipts afterwards it's been a 3 day process.
